Gollum’s Pool (also known as Tawhai Falls) is an iconic waterfall in Tongariro National Park. It is a part of the set in Peter Jacksons Lord of the Rings Trilogy as the forbidden pool in which Frodo and Faramir capture Gollum.

The falls and pool area is one of a number of Lord of the Rings film sites in the Tongariro National Park, which also includes Mount Ruapehu, which is an active volcano, and Mount Ngauruhoe, which was transformed into Mount Doom for the Movie Series.

We were up the mountain testing Mazda's new CX9, and had been up to the Ski Fields. We saw the sign to the pool on the way back down and just had to take a look. This is the result.
