What better way to display a striking image of Alaska’s Margerie Glacier, than on a custom state of the art colour poster.
We’ve strayed a little from our New Zealand homeland with this shot of the Margerie Glacier in Alaska’s Glacier bay, but the Rocky Mountaineer Train Trip and Alaskan Inside Passage Cruise had been on our own individual bucket lists for years, so when the chance arose to do it as a new couple we jumped at it.
The Glacier visit was one of the highlights of the whole trip, as we steamed into the bay, the Crew shut down the ship’s motors, and we drifted for about an hour, out in front of the Glacier, in almost total silence, broken only by the noises coming from the ice itself.
The Glacier is almost 21 miles in length, and drops over 3 miles vertically on its trip to the sea. The actual ice face at its terminus is over 300 ft high, with almost 100ft of that being below sea level.
