The Tongariro Crossing is a world renowned Adventure Hike over a high country pass between a pair of dormant volcanoes in New Zealand's wild Volcanic Plateau.

Situated in the heart of a World Heritage Park, trekkers traverse scrubland, lava cliffs and terraces, and skirt active geothermal fields and crater lakes on a real New Zealand wilderness experience

And, of course, a number of snow fed streams, rivers and waterfalls line the track, including these un named, but very photogenic falls near the end of the track.

Rather than a carefully planned guided tourist attraction, this trip is very much in the Kiwi "Do it Yourself" Style, with adventurers even having to arrange transport to and from the start and finish of the traverse.

Dena took on this trip with her camera, and her brother and oldest son. They made it through!
