The original Mt Pizsah is mentioned in the bible as the place where God first showed Moses the promised land, and, it is suspected by some scholars that Moses was buried on the slopes of the mountain.
This Mount Pisgah is one of the highest points in the Manioto Region of the South Otago province in New Zealand’s South Island High Country, and, though it may not look out across the promised land, it looks out across some massive country that its population struggles to tame.
Again we were in the Jeep as we climbed the rocky track to within 120 ft of the top. At just under 5,000 feet above sea level, the final scramble to the 360 degree view from the very top is the subject of this spectacular alpine image.
